We train local people as Community Money Advocates to help themselves and their communities and we train front-line staff to become Trusted Money Advisers providing balanced, sustainable money and budgeting advice. Community Money is managed by Puck Markham, formerly a broker and commercial banker, with PaineWebber and Barclays Bank, who after a career break, decided to refocus his financial and business skills, and has since developed extensive experience in UK based community based micro finance, money & debt advice and financial education. He set up Community Money in 2007.
Community Money CIC is a member of Advice UK, Community Money Advice, the Money Advice Trust and Transact - the national forum for financial inclusion. It has raised investment from a number of socially motivated private investors and has received grant funding from UnLtd, the Cooperative Bank and Deutsche Bank. Its founder has received a bursary from Linklaters LLP.
The company receives in-kind support from Blick Rothenberg Chartered Accountants and has in the past received support from Business in the Community, LawWorks, Decherts LLP, Eversheds LLP, Payplan and McKinsey & Company.
The company is supported by its board chaired by Bernie Morgan, former CEO of the Community Development Finance Association and founder of a start up business aimed at improving the lives of the UK under banked population. Its board members include Puck Markham, Founding Director; Althia Cameron, Money Adviser, Hyde Housing; and Chris Gregory, Social Investor.
